Where I’ve Been…and GOOD NEWS!

Hey, guys! I know I’ve committed a ginormous BLOGGER FAIL and fell off the face of the Earth for over a week!

I’ll be back this week with regular posts (including a recap of the Superhero Half Marathon we ran yesterday!) and I know I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on. I’ve really been trying to keep up with you guys, promise — I just haven’t had a whole lot of time to comment, unfortunately.

A little preview... :)

A little preview… :)

But, in any case, I thought I should at least explain my mysterious disappearance from the blogosphere. I do have a really good excuse this time, I swear. And it just so happens to be FABULOUS news. :)

Todd and I are moving in together — that is, I’m moving into his house. Which means that the past week or two have been chock full of fun activities like boxing every single item I own and sorting through mounds of clothing and cleaning and basically wanting to kill myself. Let’s just say that I tend to be a bit of a pack rat, and coupled with the fact that I’m not exactly the neatest or most organized person in the world (in case you were wondering, he is the EXACT opposite — so let’s just say that things have been really interesting lately, haha) means that I am in for quite a project!

But the painstaking process of moving aside (it really does SUCK), this past week has been a whole lot more than transporting my massive collection of Mickey memorabilia or endless boxes of running clothing and accessories. As some of you may recall, I ended up in my own apartment after getting out of an almost 12-year relationship, so this move is not only the start of something that I know is going to be AMAZING…it’s officially the end of a pretty significant chapter in my life.

Our first photo/race :)

Our first photo/race :)

But the bottom line is that I am over-the-moon excited to be taking this step forward. Our relationship has progressed fairly quickly, I would say, but at the same time, Todd and I just sort of…fit. I can’t explain it. I never in a million years would have thought I’d find someone who was so ridiculously perfect for me. I’m so glad I found the strength to end a situation that was bringing me down and to open myself up to someone new, and while it’s certainly scary to leave my home and everything I’m used to (Todd lives about 30 minutes from where I am currently), I KNOW this is right. The moving process has brought out some of the issues and fears I’ve managed to swallow for the past couple of years, but at the same time, I am so deliriously happy. I know that I’ll get through it, and everything will be just fine. Assuming that Todd continues to be patient with me and all my junk. :)

So, anyway, that’s where I’ve been. I’m excited to finally share the big news, and hope you will all forgive me for neglecting my blog (and yours!) for the past week or so!

Okay, now tell me about your moving experiences (and, please, assure me that the madness must end eventually!) :)

  1. Congratulations!! Moving is so stressful, but, yes, the madness will end. Every time I move it’s an opportunity to clean out, start fresh when I need to, and hit the reset button. That’s the exciting part about it!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Karla! AGREED. This is sort of an ultimate fresh start for me, so I know I’m going to especially appreciate it when it’s all over. As much of a PITA the moving process is, it’s definitely exciting! :)

  2. congratulations on such an exciting step in your relationship with todd! i can only imagine all of the medals that will be displayed in your home together. moving is such a pain, but the madness dies down, i promise. enjoy!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Brittney! Hahaha, yeah, that’s a good point…between all the medals and the race shirts and the various “race-cation” memorabilia, it’s going to be quite interesting finding a place for it all. :-D

  3. I think these costumes top the cake for me – you two look so adorable/cute/perfect together!

Congrats on taking this next step in your relationship. Moving is a total pain in the ass, but in the end it will all be worth it! I moved into my new condo two years ago and I’m still making it homey. I think it’s helpful to remember that much like marathon training, packing/unpacking doesn’t have to happen overnight. Just take it one day at a time! :)

    • Jennifer says:

Aw, thanks, Kristina! I’m a little obsessed with Despicable Me…totally had to make the minion costume happen eventually. ;)

That’s a great point — I really needed a dose of perspective right now! I know it’s going to take time, but it’s definitely going to be worth it. :)

I moved across the country for my boyfriend (now husband) because it felt right. Literally a 4 hour flight from the only home I’d ever known. It was crazy scary, but definitely the right thing to do :-)

    • Jennifer says:

Oh, wow, that’s definitely a HUGE move, and had to be pretty terrifying — but SO glad it worked out for you! That’s awesome! Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. :)

  5. Congratulations! That is truly great news! I’m so glad that you are so happy! And ummm, moving SUCKS. When my husband and I moved in, he moved in to my apartment (ha ha sucker! lol). We both absolutely despise moving and have vowed that if we ever move again, it’s to a house that we own so that way we never have to move again! My husband and I are similar to your guys (he’s an OCD neat freak and I’m, well, definitely not), so just be patient with each other and remember it will take some getting used to and some compromise. Congratulations again! Yay!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Kellie! HAHAHA, that sounds EXACTLY like us. It’s not even funny. I know we’ll get used to it eventually — hopefully I’ll learn a thing or two about, you know, not being a total slob, and maybe he can start to relax a bit and not freak out if everything’s not in the exact right place at all times, haha. :)

  6. Yay, congrats! Yeah, moving sucks, I’m most likely going to be moving in the next few months and I’m certainly not looking forward to it! (Although it will be a good opportunity to go through all y stuff!)

Funny how one person is always the neat freak and one is always a disaster…my tendency to leave clothes on the floor or just live out of the clean clothes in my laundry basket instead of folding them and putting them away makes me husband nuts!

    • Jennifer says:

Oh, it has definitely been a fine opportunity to see exactly the kinds of crap I’ve accumulated over the years…good lord. Haha.

That’s too funny — sounds exactly like us! I guess we’ll just have to get used to each other eventually, haha. I am definitely a hot mess, no question about it. ;)

  7. How exciting! The packing madness will end. I never realize how much crap I have until I have to box it up. Now I try to throw things out if I’m not using them.

And I renamed my blog. If you go to the old URL, it’ll give you an error.

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Lesley! I did notice that! :)

Oh, believe me, that’s exactly what I’m realizing now. I knew I was a bit of a disaster, but I had no clue exactly how much junk I had! I’ve been throwing things out (and donating, giving away, selling, etc.) left and right.

  8. I’m glad I’m not the only one with a lot of STUFF! My boyfriend and I moved from CT to Florida last summer with the intent of it being permanent…so we moved EVERYTHING. A year later, we’re moving back! So I definitely feel you on how much of a pain it can be! Good luck with the move and congrats!

    • Jennifer says:

No, you’re definitely not! I can’t even believe how much stuff I have, it’s ridiculous. Aw, man, that’s unfortunate…but I guess you just never know where you’ll end up, right? :)

  9. Hooray, what great news! Congratulations! It was nice to see you on Sunday, I tagged you in the pic I posted on my FB page :)

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Kim! SO good seeing you (again!) I’ll totally be stealing the picture, hope that’s okay… ;)

  10. Congratulations on the big move (in)! How exciting! I’m a pack rat myself, so moving is a huge pain in the butt for people like us (granted, it’s a pain in the butt for everyone, but I think more so for pack rats). Don’t worry, though, the madness will end eventually ;) Enjoy your new adventure!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Heather! Oh, I would definitely agree with that. I know things will calm down, but it has been totally overwhelming!

  11. CONGRATS to you and Todd!!! That is such exciting news! Moving is stressful, but hey, it’s a great workout! :0)

That photo of y’all in your Despicable Me outfits is too adorable!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks, Lauren! Hahaha, funny you should say that, because I’ve totally counted hauling boxes as my “workout” more than once these past couple of weeks. ;)

  12. OMG, you two are such a cute couple! I just started reading your blog this year and I admit I thought the two of you were married!

  13. Congrats! You and Todd are absolutely adorable and I’m so happy for you guys! Moving is so exciting, but so stressful at the same time. I’m definitely not looking forward to moving this summer.

    • Jennifer says:

Aw, thanks, Kathryn! Appreciate it. You’re right, it’s totally exciting and I love the idea that this is going to be a “fresh start” for me…and once things start to calm down, I know it’s going to be awesome. :)

  14. Congrats on the big move and this step in your relationship! You guys look so sweet together! I’ve been living with my boyfriend for 2 years now and it is just the best! Moving sucks, but I hope it all goes smoothly for you!! Can’t wait to read your recap of your half, that looks like a really fun one!!

    • Jennifer says:

Aw, thanks, Lauren! Congrats to you guys, too — so glad everything is going well! Working on my recap as we speak… :D
